The Beginning of the Collapse? The "Treasonous" CEO Resigns
Astronomer has confirmed the resignation of its CEO following the circulation of a controversial video showing him with the company’s HR director at a Coldplay concert in Boston a few days ago.
In an incident that sparked widespread social media uproar, a romantic moment at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium turned into a personal and professional crisis for a prominent businessman after he was caught on camera in what many described as an embarrassing situation.
During the concert, a giant screen displayed a man and a woman sharing an intimate moment. The woman quickly covered her face and left the venue, while the man ducked to avoid the camera. This prompted lead singer Chris Martin to joke: "They seem to be having a secret relationship."
The clip quickly went viral on TikTok, amassing more than 5.8 million views within hours, before media outlets revealed the identities of the two people in the video.
The man was later identified as Andy Byron, CEO of the $1.3 billion tech company Astronomer, and the woman beside him was Kristen Cabot, the company’s executive director.
Resignation: The Only Solution
The company announced the acceptance of Byron’s resignation on Saturday evening, stating: "We expect our leaders to set the standard for behavior and accountability, and recently, that standard has not been met."
The statement added: "Andy Byron has submitted his resignation, which the board has accepted. The board will begin the search for a new CEO, while Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, will continue as interim CEO."
Possible Divorce and Significant Financial Losses
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, speculation is growing that Byron’s wife, Meghan, may file for divorce, especially after she removed her husband’s surname from her social media accounts.
If this happens, Byron could face a substantial financial settlement, potentially affecting a large portion of his assets.
Byron is believed to own about 5% of Astronomer, which has a market value of approximately $1.29 billion. This means his stake is valued at around $67 million, an amount that could be divided in any legal settlement.
Kristen Cabot, who appeared in the scandalous video, joined the company last October. Her annual salary is estimated at over $650,000, and she holds a sensitive administrative position as Head of Human Resources.
